Rainbow to Refuge supports LGBTQI asylum seekers, refugees and internally displaced people in Australia and internationally. Working with community partners and networks in a number of countries, Rainbow to Refuge aims to support LGBTQI people who have been forced to flee their homes, families, communities and countries as a result of state-sanctioned violence, discrimination and threats to their lives and wellbeing.

As with all of Many Coloured Sky’s work, Rainbow to Refuge resources and enables communities and organisations of LGBTQI+ people living as refugees and asylum seekers to address their own challenges, meet their own needs and achieve their own ambitions for their communities. We do this via capacity building and technical support, advocacy, funding and other material support, promotion, networking, supported referrals and the creation of safe spaces.

In Australia we work with the large and growing Queer Refugee and Asylum Seeker Peers (QRASP), in Kenya with a coalition of LGBT refugee organisations, and with a range of anonymous partners in Uganda. We’re also network and coalition building and developing active partnerships across South East and South Asia to support refugees there.
